The new mascot of the MCA March 11-12 / 18-19 Special events for the presentation of the new mascot of the MCA were organized for two consecutive weekends in March 2006. The new mascot is a vividly coloured version of a unique Cycladic figurine of a seated male who holds a cup in his right hand, as if “proposing a toast”. It has been selected both for its archaeological value and because it symbolizes a feast and the joy of life. The artistic adaptation was made by Christine-Joanna Lambrou.
Activities included theatrical performances for kids, puppet-shows, story-telling, workshops in painting, ceramics, and jewellery, guided tours to the collections, educational games etc. The success of the event is reflected on attendance figures approximating 5.500 visitors, mostly kids. All revenues were offered for charity purposes to MDA Ηellas (Muscular Dystrophy Association). The events were sponsored by LAVIPHARM.
